For National Intern Day at Intuit Mailchimp, I transformed a simple social media brief into an innovative mock movie title sequence. This project showcased our intern cohort and celebrated our summer experience in a unique, visually striking format. As lead designer, I drove the project from concept to completion, navigating stakeholder feedback and delivering an animation that captured over 7,500 impressions.

Strategy

Faced with an open-ended brief, I saw an opportunity to push creative boundaries. My strategy was to use the cinematic language of movie title sequences to craft a compelling narrative about our internship. This approach allowed us to highlight each intern's role while creating memorable content. The goal was to stand out in the social media landscape and reflect Intuit Mailchimp's innovative culture while highlighting the internship team.

Design

The project kicked off with conceptualization and a successful pitch. I then utilized Figma for rapid storyboarding and design exploration, facilitating quick iterations and team collaboration. Asset creation in Adobe Illustrator set the visual foundation, which came to life through animation in After Effects. Throughout the process, I coordinated with designers and copywriters, ensuring our creative vision aligned with Intuit Mailchimp's design system. Regular stakeholder meetings provided feedback which led to revisions while keeping the broader brand in mind and exceeding the goals of the project.

Results

Our final animation achieved engagement with over 7,500 impressions. Leading this project honed my skills in team collaboration, stakeholder management, and working within a professional design system while maintaining creative integrity. This success opened doors to other exciting projects at Intuit Mailchimp, including a Shopify Integration Sizzle Video and Future Marketing Typography Motion Explores. These experiences deepened my skills in motion design and provided valuable insights into the dynamic workings of an in-house creative agency, blending innovative thinking with professional execution.

This was a quick animation project for the pilot episode of Mailchimp’s podcast Subcultural. Building upon provided concepts, I created the motion graphics.
