Role
Motion Design Intern

National Intern Day at Intuit Mailchimp transforms a simple social media brief into an innovative mock movie title sequence. This project showcased our intern cohort and celebrated our summer experience in a unique, visually striking format. As lead designer, I drove the project from concept to completion, navigating stakeholder feedback and delivering an animation that captured over 8,100 impressions.

Strategy

The goal was to reflect Intuit Mailchimp's innovative culture while highlighting each intern’s role on the team. It seemed fitting to use the cinematic language of movie title sequences to craft a compelling narrative about our cohort’s internship at Mailchimp.

Starting with a survey of interns’ favorite part of the program, I isolated key elements to create a cohesive narrative that balanced the fun of the summer with Mailchimp’s branding.

Design

I was heavily inspired by Saul Bass and his iconic title sequence design. It combines a playful style that echoes the energetic environment of Mailchimp.

The visual design and elements were made in Adobe Illustrator, focusing on monochromatic, bold graphics, using Mailchimp yellow to direct the viewer's eyes. The simplified, fairly rough shapes emulated hand-cut paper to tie back into Saul Bass’ designs and honor the many fun creative events offered to interns.

I used After Effects to make the scenes come to life, moving from scene to scene without breaking the visual flow.

Results

Our final animation achieved engagement with over 8,100 impressions. Leading this project honed my skills in team collaboration, stakeholder management, and working within a professional design system while maintaining creative integrity.

Other exciting projects at Intuit Mailchimp included a Shopify Integration Sizzle Video, Future Marketing Typography Motion Explores, and a quick animation project for the pilot episode of Mailchimp’s podcast Subcultural.
